Great history at the National ArchivesFlag review
This is one of my favorite places to visit while in Washington DC and I think it is a great place to take your kids. What makes it so great is that your children can actually see the original Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution, along with other original documents from our nations visit. That alone is worth the visit. Be advised that the line to get in can be rather long, so plan your visit accordingly. another great aspect to the national Archives is that you can request copies of documents relating to your family history. If you are interested in genealogy and have had family members serve in the US military, the National Archives will give you copies of military records for a small fee. I was able to get civil war enlistment records for one of my great grandfathers and i can not explain how priceless they are to my family.
Tips for Families
Find out if you have ancestors who served in the military in the civil war or later wars and request a copy of their records from the National archives.
