Nature Park (Faunia), Madrid, Spain
Avenida de las Comunidades, 28, Madrid, Spain| Map |
The Faunia nature park is an open-air wild animal experience popular with families visiting Madrid. Over 1,500 animals from around the world populate this park, where visitors can interact with cage-free animals and feed many of them. Highlights include a manatee exhibit, where visitors can stand inside a plastic bubble while the creatures swim all around them, and an excellent petting zoo for the little ones. Some animals have the run of the entire park, so there is always something interesting walking around. This is not a typical zoo with lions, tigers and bears – Faunia has a very different range of birds, reptiles, insects, fish and unexpected species like kangaroos and emus. The Amazon pavilion re-creates rainforest thunderstorms, and the ''World of Night'' building houses nocturnal creatures one would normally never see. Meerkats, sea lions, penguins and other kid-favorites are available to see up-close, making Faunia a place where children really can’t get bored. There are snack bars and cafes everywhere in the park, convenient areas for stopping and resting. Faunia is a great place for families visiting Madrid to unwind and enjoy nature of all kinds.
