The Nelson--Atkins Museum of Art is dedicated to educating residents and visitors to Kansas City about the vast cultural diversity found in the arts. It is most notably recognized for its grand neo-classical architecture and its great collection of Asian art. The newest architectural addition to the museum, the Bloch Building is guarded by Rodin's famous Thinker. Other famous works found in the Nelson--Atkins Museum's permanent collection include Caravaggio's famous portrait of John the Baptist. With American, European and Asian painting, sculpture and photography, the Nelson--Atkins Museum of Art is the perfect place for the family to gain artistic and cultural perspective.

Tips for Families
This museum hosts many fun family-centered activities on the weekends. Every Saturday and Sunday from 1 - 4 PM families can participate in free hands-on activities, close looking and conversation with knowledgeable guides. On every second Sunday of the month preschoolers can enjoy free storytime at 1:30 PM in Noguchi Court.
