A good place to get grounded in North Carolina history before going on with the rest of the vacation is the North Carolina Museum of History. This museum houses 150,000 artifacts representing six centuries of North Carolina's history. Although this may sound like a bore to kids, the museum has found interesting ways to involve children. For example the Tar Heel Junior Historian Association exhibit shows award-winning history projects from students all over the state. At The North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame exhibit, kids can learn about sports heroes and test their sports knowledge with trivia questions. Exhibits like these bring kids into the equation, letting them feel like a part of history. In this way, North Carolina Museum of History is surprisingly kid-friendly.
