Great Family PlaceFlag review
We stayed at the Old Faithful Inn for 2 nights during our vacation to Yellowstone. It was expensive, but so worth the money to wake up in such an historic place, right next to Old Faithful. Our room was small, but we were able to sleep 5 of us with an inflatable mattress, and we had a private bath. The lobby was beautiful, and we ate lunch out on the top patio while Old Faithful erupted. I would truly recommend spending the money for at least one night here - even though our kids were spread out in age(9 - 19), they all were impressed with the Inn, and have asked every summer when we will be back in Yellowstone.
Tips for Families
We did not pay extra for the Old Faithful view room; there were plenty of places to see the geyser from the hotel or up close at the benches set up around it. Eat at the restaurant for lunch; it is less expensive. The food was just okay, but sitting on the upper deck to watch Old Faithful more than made up for it.

You've Just Gotta Stay Here at Least Once in Your Life
Okay, I'll admit it: I worked here one summer many years ago, between years in college, so I'm extremely sentimental about this place and my review is biased. What this place ISN'T is a modern, quiet hotel with amenities. What it IS though, is an historical hand-hewn log structure with plenty of character, located as close as you can get to Old Faithful geyser. I returned to the Inn as a paying guest for a family reunion, and stayed in a room with double bed and private toilet/sink, with a shower room down the hall. My room had French windows that opened up with a view overlooking Old Faithful, and I had reserved it MONTHS in advance. It was worth it! I could see, hear and smell Old Faithful. Spent time with...
View of old faithful
My daughter and Istayed at OF in the shared bath section. We were in room 152 on the second floor and had an unconstructed view of old faithful from our window. The room had a single queen sized bed and a sink with soap, moisturizer and shampoo wi...
A fantastic historical place to stay
The Old Faithful Inn is a fantastic place to stay, especially if you are a person like me that enjoys history and historical buildings. There are FREE daily tours of the lodge with a fantastic tour guide that give a history of the building of the lodge, when the different wings and whatnot were added on, and what things around the lodge used to look and be like. Since it is free, I would definitely recommend going on one of these tours, and you can always leave at any point in the tour if you are not enjoying it. Any of the rooms that are in the Old House (original part of the lodge) do have shared bathrooms, but I found them to be clean. All of the rooms in this part are also the same price, so I would try ...
