Parkesdale has the best strawberry shakes in the US (according to Food Network) and it's true!Flag review
Multiple U.S. Presidents can't be wrong - Parkesdale Farm Market in Plant City, FL (AKA Strawberry Capital of the World) has some awesome strawberry concoctions! Their strawberry milkshake was voted best drinkable dessert by Food Network's Alton Brown (http://www.foodnetwork.com/about-us/americas-best-top-ten-sweets/pictures/page-3.html) and named best in the world by President Obama. Both George and George W. Bush have also graced this attraction with their presence. For those of you who don't know, Plant City is all about strawberries. Their annual Strawberry Festival draws visitors to this tiny town from all over! No one place is more famous for their strawberries than Parkesdale. It is THE PLACE for locals! The farm market has a menu that basically consists of various strawberry creations (sundaes, shortcakes, and shakes). During the off season, they have a menu of other delights, but their shakes are available throughout the year. There is a large seating area just beyond the market area, but no high chairs. But, your kiddos can don a crown and try out the Strawberry Queen's throne! You can also mark your hometown on a map with a pin and leave your legacy! The farm market features a gift area where you can buy all manner of tacky Florida related gifts, as well as strawberry related gifts (I even bought my daughter a strawberry brush). Their fruits and veggies are extremely cheap, with specials varying depending on what's in season. They are hands down the cheapest place I have found in Florida for citrus. We go to Parkesdale at least every other week to stock up on farm market goodies and of course fill our bellies with shortcake and shakes! Always enjoyable!
Tips for Families
- Bring a bottle of water or other drink. There is a water fountain available with cups. - Restrooms available on site. - Not very stroller friendly, but the overall scrumptiousness factor of their strawberry treats outweighs this minor inconvenience.
