Dinosaurs still roam the earth at the sprawling Prehistoric Park (Parco della Preistoria), located a convenient 15 miles outside of Milan. Featuring towering reproductions of the ancient beasts -- as well as a maze, fossil and mineral exhibitions, a fantastic museum and a small zoo -- Prehistoric Park truly has something for everyone. The lovely destination encompasses more than 100 hectares of lush, forested land along the Adda River, and is a distinct departure from the high fashion hustle and bustle of the city. The park also offers a train for weary travelers and is bike-friendly. These helpful amenities allow guests to visit the 30+ dino, caveman and animal reconstructions -- and traverse the playground and picnic areas, botanical trails, meadows and marshes -- in one easy day. Exciting guided tours and activities are also available. Leashed pups are welcome.
