President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site remains relatively unchanged since the early 20th century. It is considered one of the best-preserved presidential sites in the nation. The visitor’s center, called the Wilder Home, the former home of Coolidge’s mother, includes a presentation about Coolidge and his life complete with several interactive exhibits and a short film. The grounds include his actual birthplace, his grave, several barns displaying farming tools of the era, the dance hall that served as the Summer White House, the church, the post office and a general store. In addition to the homestead, families can tour the Plymouth Cheese Factory which was established by the President’s father. Visitors can sample the granular curd cheese produced there. The site offers plenty of parking, a picnic area and a restaurant (which serves lunch).
