With its summit reaching 10, 927 feet, Rendezvous Mountain comprises the bulk of the Jackson Hole Ski Resort in Wyoming. Its charming, descriptive name is befitting for a mountain that brings together skiers and snowboarders of all levels in winter and visitors in summer. During the winter and summer months, the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram -- a 15-minute ride -- brings visitors to the Rendezvous Mountain summit for scenic views and dining at Corbet’s Cabin. Jackson Hole is a top ski resort known for its challenging runs as well as groomed trails suitable for beginners. But it's also a popular year-round destination. Hiking to the summit is popular in spring and fall. A network of hiking trails offer access to the surrounding wilderness, populated with wildflowers, pine trees and high alpine lakes. While exploring the local geology, many visitors like to look for fossils from the ancient oceans that once covered Jackson Hole. A good hike for families is the easy Top of the World Loop. Those seeking a more challenging hike can head off from the west side of Rendezvous Mountain into Grand Teton National Park. Marion Lake makes a nice day hike. During the summer months, tandem paragliding rides are available from the top of the tram. Reservations are not necessary to ride the tram, which loads on a first-come, first-served basis. No pets are allowed on the tram, although leashed and controlled dogs are welcome at the base area.
