This place brings out the kid in me each time I visit it. The first time i came here was for a field trip back in 1984, and I find myself just as excited to look at the planes and space capsules now, as i did then. They have a great display on space capsules, astronauts and their equipment, rovers, etc. Also some cool WWII planes and ...

Even with a coupon, it's pricey to get in. But I am not an aviation or space enthusiast. I took my boys and husband because they are. The three of them could have stayed longer. But my three girls and I had had enough after 2 hours. Many interesting video clips capturing ae...

I'm a big fan of airplanes. I've been like that since I flew my first kite. There's plenty of air museums around San Diego (Miramar) or Chino (Yanks, etc). But I like the museum packages around Balboa. For about $16, the Spirit of St. Louis and Amelia Earhart's Lockheed will greet you at the entrance. Then Apollo 9 capsule and story board. Interesting stuff, because that's the crew that tried the Lunar Module docking for the first time. WWI biplanes come next. Then, my favs, the WWII aircrafts, from SBDs, to Zeros, to BF109s to various replica engines. Sneak out to the dome and gaze at the F-4 Phantom hanging, chasing a MIG, by the PBY and the Cobra. Back inside the pavilion and check out Blue Angels F-18 Ho...

When I was a kid, I loved airplanes.  Even as an adult, that love hasn't gone away, so when I finally got a chance to come to the Air & Space Museum as part of Museum Month, I gladly took it. There are plenty of aircraft visible here, from the replicas of The Spirit of St. Louis and Amelia Earhart's Lockheed (the model on display was from the Hilary Swank movie from a couple years back), to modern military aircraft such as the F-4 Phantom hanging inside the pavilion and the Blue Angels F-18 Hornet at the end of the tour.  The museum is set up in a way that you see how aircraft evolved from the beginning of the 20th century to the present. There's also displays around the museum as well, including one dedicat...

Went here with my brother, an avid space enthusiast who was visiting from VA. He would have probably rated it higher because he knew a lot of the background behind the planes, etc. I thought it was pretty cool though! Don't think I'll go back but I'm glad I went to check it out and it was nice having my brother th...

When I visited the San Diego Air & Space Museum there was a wonderful exhibit on about Leonardo DaVinci and the science of his inventions. It was filled with models (some of which you could actually manipulate) and a short film about the artist & inventor. But DaVinci aside, the real reason I came to the San Diego Air & Space Museum was to see the aircrafts and boy did I get my fill of them! This museum houses a treasure trove of aviation history. One of my personal favorites was the Grumman F6F Hellcat (a plane that one of my grandparents help design in the 1940's). After taking a long, informative journey through the museum we discovered a flight simulator station. We paid and waited in line for a few minu...

This is a small air and space museum compared to the one in DC but it's decent on it's own.  Out of all the museums in Balboa park, this one had the best reviews on yelp so we decided to check it out.  The admission is pricey but they offer a student discount.  The best part for me was t...
