Description

You'll love spending the day at SeaWorld San Diego especially if your children have a burgeoning interest in marine life. The park includes a long list of different shows, rides and exhibits that will educate and entertain the whole family. Many kid-friendly hotels nearby SeaWorld San Diego offer a shuttle service to the ocean-based theme park.

SeaWorld San Diego's attractions include eight different shows about marine life and animals from sea and land. There's the classic One Ocean Shamu show featuring information about Killer Whales and a performance by the whales and their trainers. Other popular shows include Sea Lions LIVE, where the sea lions immitate popular television shows, Pets Rule!, Madagascar Live! Operation: Vacation, and Cirque de la Mar. Pets Rule! focuses on common pets like cats, dogs and birds with some guest appearances by the park's oceanic creatures, while Madagascar Live! Operation: Vacation is a rock-and-roll performance.

Another exciting thing to do at SeaWorld San Diego is to try one of the many rides. The Journey to Atlantis is a two tower log drop ride centering around the lost city. There's also the Bayside Skyride, one of the longest enclosed gondola rides in the world. It glides over Mission Bay, where you might spot boats, wakeboarders, sunsets or even fireworks at night. The park even offers a chance to swim with dolphins!

Entrance to the park costs around $80 for both adults and children. Children under 3 enter for free. This family attraction in San Diego is conveniently located at 500 SeaWorld Drive in San Diego, California and accessible by both trolley and bus public transportation. If you're looking to save money on your family trip plans in San Diego, there are many bundle deals to consider that include SeaWorld San Diego, Disneyland Resort, Universal Studios Hollywood, Safari Park and the San Diego Zoo. The park's hours vary based on the day, but it is usually open between 10:00am and 6:00pm, and stays open as late as 9:00pm on some nights.

Pro tip for SeaWorld San Diego attractions: You can check animal feeding times in advance and even participate. Make sure to bring a waterproof camera if you plan on sitting in the front row of many shows.

Tips for Families

Don't miss the Animal Connections exhibit in the old Clydesdale barn. Keepers often take the animals for a walk or let you interact with the animals.

Tips for Families

If you're not getting a multi-day ticket that includes parking, you can park for free at Perez Cove and it's the same distance (if not closer) than the Sea World Lot.

An easy day of marine fun at SeaWorld San Diego

Tips for Families

Be at the park entrance the second it opens in the morning, animals are active and kids are fresh and ready for a long day of walking, playing, and watching. Bring a lunch and snacks, or, spend $40/adults, $30/kids and dine with Shamu and friends; pricey, but wow, worth every penny if this is a one-time visit. Strollers, layered clothing, and water/drinks are a must. Sunscreen, too, of course. Headed to a show? Pick the first shows of the day. They get crowded later on!

Tips for Families

1. If you sit in the splash/soak zone at the shows, you will get SOAKED!!!! 2. Check the show schedules...we were able to see most of the Shamu show, but left a couple minutes early for the dolphin feeding, and were the first ones there, and didn't have to fight the crowd that was running to get there after the show. 3. We bought the City Pass and the kids chose to come back to Seaworld for a second day they loved it so much! (City Pass was a great deal!!)
