When the Selby Gardens was opened in 1975, Marie Selby's final wish was fulfilled. Now, her legacy lives on as countless visitors are enamored by the breathtaking plant life, leaving the gardens with a better understanding of the natural world. The Selby Gardens is home to a vast plant collection, numbering more than 20,000 accessioned plants. Included in the eight greenhouses on site, is the brilliant conservatory which houses unusual flora year round. Also, the garden has a place for the little ones. Children will love the Kid's Corner which offers an interactive space for children to play with puzzles and crafts as well as learn more about plant life through plant-themed books.

Wonderful place for kids and adults!Flag review
We visited with our 1-1/2 year old and he enjoyed seeing the flowers and trees, strolling the grounds in his stroller and walking in the grass. There are also a few cafes where you can take a break and get a snack. The gardens are just large enough that you can see everything before a toddler gets too distracted!
Tips for Families
Bring your camera! The orchid garden provides lots of amazing photo opportunities. If you are a member of another city's botanical garden, you may be able to get a discount on admission.
