The Southern Vermont Art Center, founded more than 50 years ago by a group of local artists, is a cultural center located beneath the Equinox Mountain. The Center includes a Georgian mansion that showcases changing exhibits, the Arkell Pavilion, a performing arts center and the Elizabeth de C. Wilson Museum, which houses the center's permanent collection of more than 700 paintings. A Garden Café is also on the premises for those who would like to enjoy a meal. Regular evening receptions and art shows keep the Center’s calendar of events in constant rotation. Family-friendly art-focused events, from one day to a period of several weeks, are part of the line-up as well.
