The Spanish Governor's Palace is one of those fascinating buildings from Texas’ colorful past. While not exactly “palace-sized,'' the Spanish Governor's Palace is nonetheless a fascinating example of Spanish architecture, and its eight-room museum is full of period furnishings and relics. Located about ten blocks from the Alamo, the Palace is right in the center of town and is easily accessed from Market Square and the Riverwalk. There’s a charming courtyard and gardens in back, providing a shady place to rest. Allow up to an hour to see the whole museum. Understated but full of unique pieces of local history, the Spanish Governor's Palace is an easy, affordable outing for families visiting San Antonio.
