Everything in life should run as smoothly as the Steamship Authority. When traveling to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, the Steamship Authority will get you there. Its vessels are clean and timely. I find their web site easy to use and their staff, whether on the telephone or on the vessels very costumer friendly. The vessels have restrooms and food. The food is nothing special, just packaged snacks and drinks, but will do until you get to your destination. When planning a vacation to the Vineyard or Nantucket, the traveler must plan in advance when taking a vehicle, spots are reserved months in advance. If you wait too long, you'll get stuck with a very late in the evening or very early in the morning ferry. For my family, the ferry ride to Martha's Vineyard is half the fun, my kids peer out to the horizon and see who is the first to spot land -- we love the ferry!
