"The essence of pleasure is spontaneity." ~ Germaine Greer I have a friend who once insisted that we hop on a plane to Munich to pick up Laugenbrezeln, and come right back home 24 hours later. We spent most of that weekend in airport security but it was worth it. Our recent trip to Atlanta was a similar experience. I think this one of the places listed in the book, 1000 Places to See Before you Die http://www.amazon.com/... and rightfully so. Located on the 73rd floor of the Westin Peachtree Plaza; my eyes were closed and I missed most of the Atlanta skyline going up the glass elevator. The restaurant platform, however, revolves around the central tower once per hour so we were able to see a 360 degree ang...
We're native Atlantans and that is the only reason I'm glad we went to this restaurant to say we've gone. The view was indeed fantastic and we saw the view in broad daylight to sunset because we were there for two hours. We ate our Thanksgiving meal there, the first course was great. I had a goat cheese salad and my husband had a great pumpkin and crab bisque. The turkey meal was awful. The turkey was dry and tasteless. The cranberries were disgusting and the stuffing was gross. The pumpkin brulee dessert was good but the apple pie was only so-so. We give it a 7 out of 10. We're glad to say we've done it but we have no desire to return. Later we went to the bar because we were staying at the Westin...
With such a fantastic view of downtown Atlanta, this restaurant can get away with mediocre food. My friends and I stopped by on a Saturday night. I was worried we were underdressed, but we saw a little bit of everything (wedding parties, conference-goers, families, dates, etc.). I have no fear of heights, which is good because the glass elevator ride to the top moves fast! I do, however, tend to get motion sickness, and even though the rotating cocktail lounge moves incredibly slow, it was a little unnerving to see the movement out of the corner of my eye. The drinks were expensive, but the service was decent. The food, however, was not. We ordered the margherita pizza appetizer, and I could have sw...
One of the coolest restaurants I've ever been to! It's a great way to see all of Atlanta as you sit on the top floor of the tallest hotel in the Western hemisphere. It rotates and provides signs saying which cities/towns are in the direction you're looking at any point. There is also a ...
