Feed the Swans & DucksFlag review
The Swan Pond is a Manlius, NY institution; the swan is the symbol of the town. The town takes great care to maintain the pond and care for the swans. The perimeter of the swan pond is stroller-friendly, and kids love to watch the swans and ducks swim gently around the fountain. Food dispensers are available if you'd like to feed them. Walk behind the man-made pond and you'll find a gazebo and additional swimming areas for local ducks and geese. One big negative for arachnophobes: In the summer, the spiders along the fence become, shall we say, intimidating. Yikes.
Tips for Families
When the weather is warm, grab an ice cream cone or two at Sno Top, within easy walking distance. Their specialty is the glacier - soft serve atop a Slushie - which comes in many flavors. Swan Pond shirts and memorabilia is available at the Dazzle store on the same street. There is a Dunkin Donuts nearby and a Bruegger's Bagel shop on Rte 173 within walking distance if you want some coffee. If you're in town overnight and are able to break away for a movie date, try the independent theater on 173 in the center of town for more interesting and cerebral IFC-esque selections than you'll find at the mall (grown-ups only).

Suggestions for nearby family-friendly restaurants
There is a new wood-fired pizza place (Iron Wood) on 173. I haven't tried it yet so I can't vouch for it personally, but it started out as a food cart in the Dazzle parking lot and did well enough to move to a storefront. It might be a nice place to grab lunch or dinner and is within easy walking distance.
