The Tallahassee Museum is touted as the place where North Florida's history, nature, and wildlife come together – and it really delivers. Families can easily spend an entire day at the museum complex, which is comprised of several buildings, a zoo, multiple live animal, bird and fish exhibits, a preserved “village” of sorts and an awesome Discovery Center. There are numerous hands-on exhibits and activities going on at the museum year-round, so it’s best to refer to the visitors guide and prepare to get fascinated. A must-see is the elevated boardwalk used to view the zoo which is devoted to native wildlife. Among the species here are the endangered Florida panther and the rare red wolf, as well as bobcats, black bears, alligators, foxes, skunks, otters, deer and wild turkeys. Other features of interest are the Phipps Gallery of art and collectibles, a nature trail and butterfly garden – even a new ziplining course. The Tallahassee Museum is the perfect solution to families looking for something new to experience, which everyone can enjoy.
