Both kids and adults can experience New Mexico's ski area in the Taos Ski Valley, whose snowboarding and ski facilities that include a terrain park and a cross country ski area are great not just for experienced skiers but also for beginners - beginners can attend Taos' ski school while experienced ones can take on the Maxie's Terrain Park and the cross country ski terrain. Families can also treat themselves to snow tubing, dips in the hot springs, snowmobile rides and snowshoeing.

European ambiance, fun ski terrainFlag review
Taos Ski Valley is a very welcoming place with ski in/ski out condos, a European-style village with cozy shops and restaurants and an excellent children's ski school. Kids learning to ski have their own smaller-sized chairlift. Ski lessons for older kids and adults are tailored for each person's ability. Instructors watch you ski and then place you in a class. A little intimidating initially but they match you up really well.
Tips for Families
Take at least one lesson to get oriented on the mountain. Places to eat: Tim's Stray Dog cantina serves awesome Mexican food (try the steak tacos), Rhoda's is perfect for lunch (great green chili burgers) and an ideal meeting place for families since it's right at the base of the mountain.
Suggestions for nearby family-friendly accommodations
Kandahar Condominiums have specious bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen and a family room with fireplace. And you can walk/ski to the closest chairlift.
Suggestions for nearby family-friendly restaurants
Tim's Stray Dog, and Rhoda's are casual eateries with great food. Edelweiss is a bit more upscale and has amazing lasagne and steak (plus other food, but that's what we ordered).
