A great starting point for the trip, the Outdoors Santa Barbara Visitors Center offers education and some of the best views of Santa Barbara. Beaches, harbors, mountains, the wharf and islands can all be viewed from the benches on the fourth floor deck. Inside, families can pick up all the information they need on Channel Islands National Park, as well as the city of Santa Barbara. Interpretive displays can help parents teach kids about the Chumash culture, Spanish explorers, missionaries, American ranchers, and flowers native to the islands. After a visit to the Outdoors Santa Barbara Visitors Center, families can step into the National Park prepared.
