Sanctury in the hustle bustle Waikiki

Submitted by: Travelforlife8

It's historical, beautiful, peaceful with a wonderful garden and large trees. A strech of long ocean front. Super charged Mai Tai (tastes great, but strong - watch out!), excellent services and ready access to shopping, food, ocean...you name it. It's such a charming p...

Unique Stately Hotel with Great Location

Submitted by: jelarv

We visited the Royal Hawaiian twice this summer and had a great experience each time. The rooms in the tower are newer and offer a large balcony to view Waikiki Beach whereas the original portion of the property has an old world feel, like you would have in any stately hotel that's over 100 years old. We had each type of room during our two stays and liked both. Having breakfast at the Surf Lanai looking onto Waikiki Beach is a very unique experience. If you stay here, be aware the hotel shares services at the Sheraton right next door, such as coin-operated washer and dryers and an airport shuttle, which the Royal Hawaiian person told me the hotel does not offer when I called before the trip. My only complai...

Best Hotel Ever

The Royal Hawaiian is without a doubt the nicest hotel I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. Our check in was even special. We were given a delicious drink while we were relaxing at the check in desk. Our room was very comfortable and the view was spectacular! The entire grounds were too beau...

Old World Charm in the Middle of Waikiki

I had booked at the Sheraton Waikiki where we had stayed a few years before, but my agent called a few days before our trip to say the Sheraton had overbooked; so they were upgrading us to tower oceanview rooms at the Royal Hawaiian right next door. We were ecstatic, and, upon our arrival, we were not disappointed. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms were ready for us and were clean and updated, and the lobby staff could not have been kinder nor more helpful. Free full breakfasts at the restaurant were included for each day. (and I must note that after years of travelling and dining out, the waiter we had at breakfast was the most outstanding server we have EVER had. He anticipated our every need, was infor...

Almost perfect

We recently spent a week at this gem on Waikiki beach and, except for one blemish, we had a memorable vacation. Our family of three (dad, mom and 9 year old girl) were awestruck with the beauty of the backdrop of the aqua ocean against the old world architecture of TRH as soon as we checked in. We stayed on the ninth floor of the Tower and truly enjoyed a beautiful view every day. I had heard this hotel was an oasis among the proliferation of high rises on the beach. I had some reservations about this as I grew up in the Miami area and didn't want that experience on Oahu. But the resort truly did deliver. You feel as if you are totally removed from the hustle and bustle of the the rest of the strip. The high...

Nice, But Not Fully Luxury

Submitted by: SheMakes3

We stayed at the Royal Hawaiian for two nights to experience Waikiki with my daughter. The Royal Hawaiian is a very nice hotel that is ideally situated on the beach, but I wouldn't give it the title of luxury. The room was very nice - we had a suite with a very small full bathroom and a second half-bath. It also had a living room with some decent furniture in it - but a too small table for usefulness. The room also lacked a lanai and it overlooked the inner lawn (but that is what I booked, so it was accurate). But overall, we were pleased with the suite and thought it looked better than the pictures had led us to believe. The problem wasn't so much the room, it was that it didn't work well with the overall h...

OK hotel, not for families

Submitted by: FamilyCameron

We stayed here for one night, the location is amazing on Waikiki beach. The rooms are quite small and we had no lanai despite paying $350 (a first in Hawaii). The hotel is historical and a welcome relieve on the sky line from all the skyscrapers that line the beach. The service was very good. The beach front bar was quite loud and not really a place for a relaxing beach side drink/snack with children, saying that later in the evening we returned and it was quieter as the groups had obvioulsy left to go in to town. The previous night we had stayed at the Kahala resort which while more expensive is just much better value for money and more suited to families, the Royal Hawaiian is stunning but I think its loca...
