Trunk Bay Beach & Underwater Snorkel Trail, Saint John, Virgin Islands
Saint John, Virgin Islands| Map |
St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands has been ''discovered'' more and more of late, probably due its popularity as a port for cruise ships. They can’t be blamed though - it’s one of the prettiest places on earth, offering world-class sea life viewing at the Trunk Bay Beach and underwater snorkel trail. Trunk Bay Beach is a picture-perfect strip of pure white sand lining vivid turquoise waters, which is worth the ferry ride in itself. The underwater snorkel trail offers both experienced and beginner snorkelers a chance to try out this fun sport in a safe, warm environment, that is swarming with colorful tropical fish. The popularity of Trunk Bay is such that visitors are encouraged to take cabs to the beach, though in off-season there is plenty of nearby parking, and admission to the park plus snorkel rental is very affordable. A snack bar is nearby with showers, lockers and bathrooms handy. Vacationing families will definitely get a lot of enjoyment out of Trunk Bay Beach and the underwater snorkel trail.

Tips for Families
Try to look up when cruise ships will be in port and avoid going snorkeling on those days – the snorkeling trail area gets very crowded and it becomes difficult to find a spot on the beach.
