Wonderful Spot for Children to ExploreFlag review
We have a membership at the Tucson Botanical Gardens, which was designated by Reader's Digest as one of America's best secret gardens. It changes with the seasons and right now the flowers are in bloom. It smells fantastic! Entrance to the butterfly greenhouse is now included in the regular admission price. During the summer you can find a shady spot to relax. My daughter loves the fountains. There is a train that she loves to watch. There is also a children's discovery garden with a sandbox and a worm bin. There is also a story time once a month and many other events that children are welcome to attend. My daughter loves to just wander around the garden while I follow along. She loves to explore, touch the plants, smell the flowers, watch the butterflies, search for lizards and fiddle around in the children's area. There are currently 17 specialty gardens so there is plenty to see, but it isn't so large that you can't see all of it before the little ones get cranky. The bathrooms are always clean and the employees and volunteers have always been very friendly.
Tips for Families
There is plenty of space for strollers. There are also plenty of benches and tables for when you need a break. There is also plenty of shade, making this a great place to go once the weather gets hot. Snacks are available at the little cafe, but the selection isn't that great so I suggest bringing your own snacks and plenty of water.
