USS Iowa, Los Angeles, California
250 S Harbor Blvd., Berth 87, Los Angeles, California 90733| Map |
The USS Iowa is a formerly active US Navy battleship currently located at the Port of Los Angeles. The Iowa saw combat in both World War II and the Korean War and played an extensive role in American military history during the 20th century. Nowadays, the Iowa functions as a museum ship; in 2012, it found a permanent home in the Port of Los Angeles and is open to the public. Visitors are free to embark on a self-guided tour throughout the ship's inner bowels. There are future plans for a digital theater that will offer a virtual video experience that simulates the active role the Iowa played during World War II.
