Tips for Families

Arrive early, make sure you schedule time and plan to hit the various shows. Years later some of the fun songs of the aquarium singers fill my head. My 10 year old and I still sing a song about a Beluga whale we learned when he was two on a visit here. Make sure you get through Vancouver before rush hour or this location can be hard to get to.

Capilano Suspension Bridge

Came here the other night to take in the Christmas trees and lights they have set up for the holidays. Tis the Season! Entrance fee is a bit stiff for a single entrance ($25 plus tax) but for a few dollars more you can get an annual pass (good for a year from the date you purchase it) and come back and visit many times. Tis the Season! It was a bit crowded in places because of the groups coming and going and the families taking advantage of a family deal ($50 plus tax for 2 adults and 2 kids).  Tis the Season! There was a good number of displays at the entrance and scattered through the park, of interesting historical significance relating to the bridge and the area.  Scenic photo opportunities for you and y...

I am a repeat offender.  Try to bum 50% off coupons off friends with Entertainment & Vancouver Attraction coupon books.  If you have to pay full price-it's still worth it! We are finally learning not to go at 3:30 PM and madly fly around until closing time.  Go earlier in the day and you will have time to see the exhibits and the animals will be active.   Before living in BC I thought the BC Coast area would be boring.  It rocks!  Look at the pics above each exhibit to see what the serene water areas look like, then look in the tanks to see the enchanted underwater world unfold. Try to catch Kila the beluga playing peeka-boo before a show.  Go outside to see the playful otters and then go back inside to warm...

Capilano Suspension Bridge

This place will make you feel like a kid walking through bridges and high up in treehouse with a decent view of the stream below. The main suspension bridge is not for anyone who has any level of Acrophobia. It's a cool little place to visit if you are in town, but it is by ...

What to do when your boyfriend is working and you're left in charge of his children? And your friend comes from Abbotsford with her kid? Right, Science World! Rainy day.. perfect idea right? WRONG. How awful of them to charge you full price when most of the 'exhibits' and areas are closed. Oh let's pay for the kids to play in Kidspace?? And the Dino exhibit? Cool looking dino's, but small and lame exhibit. So disappointed. In fact, I hope someone from Science World reads this. $57.00 for 2 kids and I. I could have, like, bought shoes! I wish I could get my money back. They should close it down until everything is opened properly, because I just can't fathom spending that amount of money again. Lame, Science ...

Some things to know about me before reading on:  I don't have small children and have been extremely spoiled in my life, living near one of the better science museums in the world. This place looks impressive from the outside, but upon entering the building my first impression was "Hmmm, not quite sure what the big deal is."  To be fair, it was undergoing major renovations so it may be a lot better once the renovations are complete. There are lots of hands-on activities for children here, but from an adult's perspective they seemed fairly outdated and some of them were even confusing to me (what does that say about me?).  The few that seemed pretty captivating had swarms of kids all over them, of course. I w...

Capilano Suspension Bridge

Capilano Suspension Bridge is a must when visiting Vancouver. Even my three year old son loved walking across the bridges and cliffs. Wear good shoes if it has been raining. The wood in areas was a little slippery. Capilano Suspension Bridge provides a free shuttle from the Vancouver hotels. The bus driver ...
