Nestled among the towering pines and cedars of Emerald Bay, Vikingsholm Castle is a mansion fit for a Viking king. The spectacular forest views make the castle seem like something out of a fairytale. Built as a summer home for Mrs. Lora Knight in 1929, the castle features intricate construction, such as the round granite boulders embedded in mortar that make up the exterior and massive hand-hewn timbers and metal fixtures throughout the interior. However, the craftsmanship alone is not what makes this building unique, The living areas are filed with furnishings replicated from pieces that Knight had viewed at museums in Norway and Sweden. A visit to the Vikingsholm Castle is both an educational trip back in time and around the world for parents and kids to enjoy together.
