There’s plenty for families to see and do at Boston’s waterfront, which is among the city’s most kid-friendly attractions for many reasons -- fresh air, lots of activities and good food. A good first stop is the New England Aquarium, housing a 200,000-gallon ocean tank. There’s also an IMAX Theatre showing films about the ocean and universe. Those with more time can join a seasonal whale-watching excursion. Just be sure to book in advance for this popular activity. For meals and shopping, walk to Rowes Wharf Complex. A large arch opens up the city to the water. Keep walking to reach the Children’s Museum and Boston Tea Party Museum. Nearby is a small Fire Museum, displaying vintage Boston Fire Equipment.

Tips for Families
While at Boston’s waterfront, treat kids to ice cream at the Milk Bottle, located outside the Children's Museum. The 40-foot landmark replica of an old milk bottle is tough to miss.
