It feels like a hide away, especially on a hot Sunday afternoon...Flag review
There is nothing fancy about this place, it's a very simple park, but in its simplicity, it is very welcoming. We find ourselves at the bottom of a small waterfall with a shallow pool (called a lynn, we discovered when researching our last name) containing tiny fish, frogs, and even a little snake. We enjoy sharing our lunch (ok, the kids practically feed their entire sandwiches to watch the fish catch the bread) and the coolness beneath the sheltering foliage, and eventually wander around to enjoy the playground offerings and beauty of the lower hiking trails. I have never attempted going higher, it looks more vertically challenging than I deem worthy of injury. After a long, leisurely afternoon, we begin to depart only to discover our good friends playing tennis at the entrance to the park, and they borrow our happy boy to play with their youngest, his best friend. All in all, a good choice for location, relaxing, and enjoying each other and the beauty of God's world.
Tips for Families
Picnics, playgrounds, perhaps a dip in the pond- not to be done without supervision, however, as it is not a particularly safe looking "swimming hole" as things are not necessarily cleared out after falling in from whence they came. A local park, not so much a destination for distant travelers, although they had some sort of mountain biking thing with campers arriving one weekend.
