Families looking for a fun outdoor adventure in Costa Rica can book a white water rafting with Exploradores excursion to the Pacuare River. This isolated river is surrounded by lush tropical rainforests where animals like sloths and tropical birds can be seen among the trees. The one day expedition costs $99 per person and include 4 hours total of rafting of the river. This trip ends at the Exploration Center in Siquirres where visitors can use onsite showers and changing rooms before enjoying some cold beverages. The two day expedition is $219 per person with a total of 7 hours on the water. The overnight trip involves a stay at the Pacuare River Lodge and a hike through the jungle to various waterfalls and swimming holes. These particular excursions are for kids ages 12 and up, so they are best for families with tweens and teenagers. The Pacuare River trip can be combined with the Tortuga Expedition for a chance to visit Tortuguero National Park and stay at the La Baula Lodge. There are also white water rafting excursions to El Carmen suitable for kids ages six and older. These tours include 2 hours of river time and a picnic lunch.
