Wings Over Miami Museum, Miami, Florida
14710 SW 128th Street, Miami, Florida 33196| Map |
Wings Over Miami Air Museum is one of those tiny museums that was put together through a labor of love. Families looking for something a little different to add to their vacation itineraries should consider a stop here. With its dozen or so vintage airplanes and jets, the museum will appeal mostly to aircraft fans and history buffs, but will also be interesting to children who’ve never seen these rare sights. While there are no interactive or touchable displays, there are a number of artifacts, models and memorabilia on exhibit as well as a nice gift shop. Some of the planes are in the process of restoration or still in operation, and visitors might see one being taken out to the runway in preparation for flight. The airport itself provides a certain amount of diversion, as planes take off and land nearby. Located in a hangar right at the Kendall-Tamiami Airport, Wings Over Miami is easy to find, with plenty of parking.
