Montreal Biodome, Montreal, Quebec

This is a must-do in Montreal with kids. Housed in a former Olympic facility, the Biodome allows visitors to walk through a variety of climates and to experience the plant and animal life native to that region (Canadian woods, polar/arctic, rainforest, etc). Penguins and puffins, lynx, otters, monkeys, water fowl, and more can be seen along the way. You can easily spend a full morning or afternoon here. You can buy ticket packages for the Biodome along with the Montreal Insectarium, Montreal Botanical Garden, and Montreal Planetarium for a reduced cost. However, if you're looking to kill some time on a rainy day in Montreal with kids or if you're in the city during the winter when visiting the Botanical Garden isn't possible, definitely visit the Biodome by itself and/or along with the Insectarium for some indoor fun. Kids will especially enjoy the on-site aquarium, especially the piranhas!

A visit here will take you through 4 different Ecosystems (Tropical Rainforest, Laurentian Maple Forest, Gulf of St. Lawrence, and Sub-Polar regions). Over 4,800 animals from 230 different species and 750 plant types co-exist in this space, making for a unique, fun and very educational experience.
