My Travel Style

We are complete Disney fans! Our Dis Savvy family visits WDW in Florida at least twice a year from Illinois. We travel with our children (driving down) and my husbands parents. I have been to WDW almost 70 times in my lifetime. I have visited the parks as a child and with siblings, with senior citizens, with nursing babies, toddlers and while undergoing chemotherapy due to a lousy cancer diagnosis in Sept 2012. I love talking about Disney and offering tips to make their Disney Dreams come true. You can find me on facebook as Dis Savvy!

Mini Golf Disney Style

Flag review

If you visit the Walt Disney World Resort during less-busy times (January or early February, September) the parks may have shorter operating hours. Sometimes you might not be ready to call it a night. That's usually when my family chooses to go Mini-golfing at Winter-Summerland Mini Golf Course. We also are annual passholders which gets us a discount on mini golf. Here's what we love about this course. There are two courses at this location and we almost always choose to play the Winter course. We get a kick out of being in a summerly location (Florida) but playing on a course with snowflakes, snowmen and ice floes! This isn't your regular Putt Putt course either! There are challenges and interesting features throughout. Though I prefer the Winterland course, the Summerland is just as well themed! The courses work for our family - two young girls (8 and 4), two adults and two seniors - each hole had something fun about it and everyone can find success at some point! This is a place to visit on those nights the parks close early or during that "break" time between parks!

Tips for Families

This course is good for any level of golfer. Younger golfers can "play" their own way!

Vacation Tour of Saratoga Springs

Flag review

Due to some schedulling issues, our most recent family trip to Walt Disney World needed some re-tooling. When we were finished secruing dates in early November, we had to do some room switching during the trip to make it work. This trip proved an interesting tour of Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa. It was a bit hectic to be "moving" for the first three days of our trip, but we are seasoned Disney guests so it wasn't so bad. Our first night we were in a 2 bedroom unit at The Springs. The location was perfect! We were right across the street from EVERYTHING. The bus stop was convenient and we could get to everything we needed. We moved into the 3 bedroom grand villa for the second night. THIS is living! I have stayed at the Grand Villa at Old Key West but not at Saratoga. This place was larger than my house! We had a dining room and interior stairs leading to two separate bedrooms. It had four bathrooms. FOUR!!! I tell you, for our party of 6 it was fantastic. The ONLY downside -- we were in The Grandstand which is the farthest from everything. The last move we made was to The Paddock into a 2 bedroom unit. While the two bedrooms are lovely, we were spoiled from the Grand Villa. What we lost in space we made up for in location. We were close to a bus stop in the middle of the route and while a bit farther from the pool/spa/restaurant -it wasn't horrible. I will say that if we ever need a three bedroom Gand Villa, Saratoga Springs will be my first choice!

Tips for Families

If you want to be close to the action, DON"T stay at The Grandstand!

EPCOT Navigation Tips

Flag review

EPCOT is a very large theme park! When you are planning your visit, it might help to keep a few things in mind. FUTURE WORLD When you think about Future World, imagine the human brain. The left side of EPCOT is like the left side of your brain - analytical, hard edges, physical science themed. Here you will find attractions such as MISSION: Space, Test Track and the Universe of Energy. Going to the right, you'll find the artistic and creative themes like the right of your brain. Even the landscaping in this area is curved and sloped. You'll find The Seas, The Land and Imagination pavilions in this area. WORLD SHOWCASE When it's time to travel the world, keep these hints in mind. The American Adventure is the halfway point. The walkway itself is 1.2 miles from start to finish so it's nice to know when you've made it halfway! Also, the border countries of World Showcase are the same as America's. If you travel clockwise, you'll start at Mexico. Counter-clockwise takes you to Canada. Enjoy these little tips to help you navigate EPCOT a little easier!

Tips for Families

Never wait in a line for Spaceship Earth. Check back throughout the day and walk right on!
