We stopped by Palace Cafe, because A) It was close to our hotel (And that was a plus, traveling with 5 kids) and B) A picture of the Bananas Foster looked amazing! We were not disappointed! In fact, it was the best food we had in New Orleans! From the Crabmeat Cheesecake (weird, but awesome!) to the Shrimp Tchefuncte to the Bananas Foster made from scratch at your table, everything was delicious! Plus, the kids loved their chicken tenders, hamburger, and especially the yummy French fries! And the 3 (yes, 3) servers for each table made sure our drinks stayed full, brought lots of loaves of bread, and made the experience fun and memorable! If you're looking for an upscale place on your NOLA trip, don't pass this one up!

Tips for Families

It does seem fancy upon arriving, but everyone still treated us really nice, even with only 2 adults and 5 children! Be prepared to pay--the kids' meals are around $7, and adult meals around $15-20 for lunch.

What an experience!

Flag review

I finally made my first trip to The Creation Museum, and boy, was I surprised at all it offered! It's definitely geared toward an older child or adult, but even the little ones weren't bored at all! Of course, the entire museum is based on creationism, but it is also really great for those seeking answers to lots of questions. The museum left nothing unanswered. The special effects theatre is awesome, and even kept my 2 year old interested for the entire 22 minutes. There is a great little cafe-type restaurant to eat in, as well as some outdoor activities in the warmer months. Make the trip at least once...I don't think you'll regret it!

Tips for Families

All through 2014, children 12 and under are free, with a paid adult admission!

Fun-filled Family Day Trip

Flag review

We absolutely loved the Newport Aquarium! We have been several times, but this time was so much fun for all four of our children! Each one found something they absolutely loved! From the beautiful fish to the really cool jellyfish exhibit to the stingray tank, there is definitely something for everyone! All four kids loved playing on the playground inside, as well! It made for a nice break from standing/walking...especially for the adults:) Plus, the aquarium has very knowledgeable staff on hand to answer all kinds of questions!

Tips for Families

Don't miss the penguin exhibit! It's fun to sit and watch for a bit!

Perfect Hotel

Flag review

The Sheraton Music City is the perfect hotel for families! We visit quite often, because we like the city of Nashville so much. Anytime we visit, we stay at Sheraton Music City. This hotel is very welcoming, starting with the large lobby. Many nights you can even enjoy the live music in the bar area connected to the lobby. The rooms are decent sizes, with suites being perfect for larger families! If you can splurge a little during the week, the Club Level offers a nice breakfast and appetizers at dinnertime, as well as canned drinks all day long. The indoor pool, hot tub, and weight room are always a great addition!

Tips for Families

Pack the pool stuff--both the indoor and outdoor pools are great!

A quick trip

Flag review

The Louisville Science Center is a good place to learn. My oldest has had a few field trips there, and has always enjoyed the time away from from school for a day. However, when we go as a family, we don't end up spending much time at the science center. They have a great toddler area with lots of pretend play, as well as a water works area, but older children aren't allowed to use this space. The older kids fly through the rest of the center, and are ready to head home fairly quickly. The time we have spent there have been for approximately 2 hours at a time.

Tips for Families

The Louisville Science Center is fun...for about 2 hours...at least for our family!

So much to do!

Flag review

The Louisville Zoo is such an awesome experience! Of course, there are tons of animals to see, with a really great gorilla exhibit as well as a pretty new polar bear/seal exhibit, which is fantastic! However, the zoo also offers a fun train ride, tram rides, a carousel, and opening this year--a ropes course. These things come at an extra cost, but are worth doing, at least once! The Louisville Zoo is a great place to get in some exercise, as well, with beautiful, hilly surroundings. Finally, in the warmer months, the water splash park is open, with no extra fees! This has to be the kids' favorite part!

Tips for Families

If you're going in the warm months, pack a swimsuit and towel. You won't want to bypass the splash park---crowded or not!

What a fun holiday experience!

Flag review

The Daley Plaza transforms into a unique holiday experience during the Christmas season! This German festival is called Christkindlmarket. Throughout the streets, you will find booths and stores selling Christmas merchandise, as well as many booths selling food and beverage items. Our favorite souvenirs ended up being the mugs shaped like stockings that held our hot cocoa! Our children would love to collect these each year we go, as we've heard they change the mug colors from year to year!

Tips for Families

It can get very crowded throughout Christkindlmarket, so keep your crew close!

Fun girl-time...and not so bad for boys, either!

Flag review

The American Girl Place is a fantasy land for all kinds of girls who love dolls! You could spend hours just browsing this store! Besides shopping, we also let one of our daughters get her American Girl Doll's ears pierced. She loved taking her doll to the "salon" and then picking her up once she was done! We also ate dinner in the Cafe. Reservations are needed, but it's worth it to eat there at least once in your lifetime:) Our children especially loved the fact that the American Girl Dolls ate in seats at the table. The servers even brought an extra seat for our son's stuffed dog!

Tips for Families

Be sure to make reservations at the Cafe as soon as you can!

What a fun time!

Flag review

The Winter Wonderfest was, by far, our favorite thing we did while in Chicago! Running during December and part of January, a large part of the Navy Pier facility turns into a wonderland! There are rides, inflatables, photo opportunities, Santa!, a train, beautiful decorations, an ice skating rink, and so much more! You can purchase a wristband to do most everything, which is worth the cost. Our kids were entertained for several hours and loved every minute of it!

Tips for Families

Purchase an activity band online to save a little money and to avoid the long lines at the event!
