Family fun for all

Flag review

We stayed at the Double Tree when the next door and affiliated Willow Valley Inn was in operation (it has since closed). However, many of the amenities that we loved are still there: the chapel, the great pool with water play area, and kid activities (crafts, movie night). We will be returning for Easter with our extended family this year. Although our room was a bit loud, we had a wonderful time in the area and are looking forward to our return visit.

Tips for Families

The area immediately around the hotel is mostly chain restaurants and stores. However, you are only a quick drive away from downtown Lancaster, where there are several kid-friendly museums and more restaurant options. We went to the Lancaster Brewing Company one night, which had great beer and good dining options for both kids and adults.

Great ski school

Flag review

Our son loved his ski instructor and learned a lot in only two days of ski school at Stratton. We traveled to the mountain on MLK weekend and found it, not surprisingly, extremely crowded. Lift lines were very long on Saturday. Still, all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Sunday we didn't ski at all but instead went snow tubing on the mountain.

Tips for Families

-The Solstice lift was the least crowded on Saturday. -We tried to go to Mulligan's in Stratton Village, but it had a wait, so we walked a little farther and had a beer and pizza at the Organic Pizza Company. Great bartender and nice selection of brews.
