Cool Place for Families who Love Superman!

Flag review

Metropolis is a favorite of our families to go and visit. There is the world's largest superman statue, every place is Superman themed, even McDonalds. In the city center there is a cool phone booth and wooden stands for taking pictures with Superman. They have a few comic book collector shops and lots and lots of cool things for the kid who loves Superman to do. We always stop here on our way to Florida. It's right before you leave Illinois and so it's a great place to get out and stretch your legs!

Tips for Families

This is a nice stop on a roadtrip. You can definitely make a day here.

Great day for fun with the family!

Flag review

Purina Farms is a family favorite for us. It is a quick drive from where we are and you can do everything in the span of an hour or so. You can pet everything within reach. You can watch them milk a cow. You can pet horses, baby pigs, rabbits, and chickens. They have a hay loft with rope swings and tunnels and pedal tractors. They have a super cool agility dog show. My kids all love it when the dogs jump in the water. They have a fun tractor ride around the farm. In the fall, they really do it up and have a Fall bash. Must see in Saint Louis. BEST OF ALL IT'S FREE!!!!

Tips for Families

Great trip with babies, you can get through it really fast and your older kids will have a ball!

Very very cool

Flag review

The San Diego Safari Park is known as one of the best and biggest for a reason. Super cool scenic views, a top notch safari with animals within reach. My kids were amazed at their herd of giraffes. At least 30 giraffes in one place roaming wild. We even got to see two young giraffes play fighting with eachother which was very exciting for my kiddos. They have this amazing sky tower that stands very high above the safari park to look down onto it. It was cool getting a birds eye view of the scenic surroundings. They also had quite the collection of cool exotic birds. Overall, it was a great trip, but Escondido is much much hotter than San Diego which we weren't expecting so we didn't dress properly which made us have to cut our trip short.

Tips for Families

Dress for super hot desert climate! If you dress for San Diego you will be way too hot!!!

Very beautiful bay

Flag review

The kids loved the water, but it was too cold for swimming. It was still really pretty to look at. We drove around and found a park near the bay and my daughter really enjoyed it. There were quite a few homeless people around the bay area and that might be a deterrent to some folks, but it didn't bother me and my family. All in all a gorgeous bay and much closer than the drive to the beach.

Tips for Families

Bring a picnic!

Beautiful!

Flag review

The San Diego Zoo is one of the best in the world for a reason. The animal enclosures are huge. It summits through valleys and cliffs. It's got seriously the most amazingly gorgeous views you will ever see. You must take the tram ride over the top of the park. The views are completely unbelievable. We wished we would have planned more than 1 day there. If you are going plan at least 2 to even scratch the surface of the place. It is massive! The pandas were a favorite, but it was a majorly packed attraction.

Tips for Families

Plan a lot of time here.

Great time with the whole family!

Flag review

SeaWorld has gotten a bad rep, but man my family and I loved it. The Sesame Street rides were so fun and we all enjoyed them. Petting stingrays was amazing. Shamu Rocks was such a cool show. My daughter went crazy during the dolphin show. It was literally just SO fun. My family was enamored by all the sea life that we would never be able to see out in the wild! And the big rides had my teen completely engulfed. We wish we would have planned 2 days here instead of 1!

Tips for Families

Buy a combo ticket with the Safari Park and the Zoo to save yourself some money.

Beautiful hotel right next to everything you would want to see!

Flag review

This hotel is new and very nice. The staff was excellent. They have an outdoor heated pool that you can use year round. My teenager and I went swimming everyday and it was never crowded. This is within 20 minutes of the zoo, 30 minutes of Sea World, an hour to the beach, an hour to the Safari Park. Very close to a highway so you can get on your way. There is every single restaurant you can think of within 10 minutes pretty much. My kids loved the Baskin Robbins that was down the street. This is a nice place!

Tips for Families

Make sure you reserve your crib beforehand!

AMAZING!

Flag review

Our car broke down on the way home from Orlando, and we ended up staying here while it was fixed in the shop. We wished we would have stayed here the whole darn time. The hotel itself was amazing. Really clean, really nice rooms, super relaxing. The hotel staff was excellent. It is really close to Universal Studios. It was so nice to stay somewhere great and forget about all of the car trouble we'd had the night before. I definitely recommend it for anyone staying in the area!!!!

Tips for Families

Great hotel, great pool. Really close to Universal.

A great long weekend with the family- Branson

Flag review

My family and I rented a 15 person van and took a long weekend to an amazing cabin in Branson. bransoncabincondos.com is where we found the cabin. Jacuzzi tubs in all the rooms, an in house kitchenette so you can cook your own meals, a barbecue pit, etc. We barbecued most of the time we were there. The cabins were close to Silver Dollar City. We visited Silver Dollar City and that was a great time for everyone! Most of us are thrill seeking types, and the roller coasters fit the ticket! They weren't like any we had ridden before, and we really enjoyed it. The food at the park was great. We tried to visit Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum, but when we got there we were sorely disappointed in it. The ticket prices were absolutely outrageous and once you got into the building, it all looked pretty cheesy. We turned back when my child (9 at the time) told us that she didn't even want to go in anymore. We also visited a few souvenir shops which had pretty standard souvenir fare. Nothing overly exciting.

Tips for Families

Don't miss Silver Dollar City!

Fun for everyone (as long as they are over about 7 years old!)

Flag review

I visited Silver Dollar City on an amazing family trip. We all went in April, so the waterpark was not open. Still, the park lines weren't horrible. All of the rides have a country theme that we really enjoyed. The food was really spectacular, too. My dad has a lot of food allergies and they were able to accommodate him, which was really cool. Our favorite rides were the Powder Keg, and the Fire-in-the-Hole indoor coaster. The Fire-in-the-Hole coaster provided us with a nice break from the pretty warm weather. Our daughter who was 9 at the time could ride all of the rides. However, if you have a young one who doesn't reach the minimum height requirement, there is literally nothing for them to do that would possibly hold any interest for them. That is one of the biggest issues that I had with it. Other than that, it was a great experience for the young and old thrill seekers.

Tips for Families

Don't bring a lunch to this one, the park food is great!
