1-Night stay

Flag review

We stayed here for 1 night in order to get front-of-the-line access to rides in Universal & Islands of Adventure (both the day or arrival & departure, so for 4 people for 2 days.) You have to pay to park at the hotel and it does not include free parking at Universal (but they do have a fun boat taxi or walking path which is free of charge & runs continuous.) The pool is very nice with a splash area, nightly movie and sandy beach. It would have been cost-prohibitive to stay more than 1 night.

Tips for Families

Check for discounts. I considered getting an annual pass to Universal for the annual passholder's discount at Royal Pacific.

Ultimate water park

Flag review

Incredible wave pool, waterslides galore, a sandy "beach" play area, snorkeling (no experience required) and a lazy river that circles the park. What more could 1 want at a water park? Stitch - that's right, we met him too!

Tips for Families

Get a locker at the main entrance to keep valuables safe.

Something for everyone

Flag review

Take a safari, ride the river rapids, be transported to the time of the dinosaurs, Explore Everest and enjoy the incredible Cirque de Soilel - style acrobatic Festival of the Lion King show. Oh, and there are animals, lol! You have to visit Animal Kingdom while at Disney.

Tips for Families

Use fast passes for the most popular attractions. Since this park closes earlier than the others, plan a dinner outside the park to maximize your time (we went to Animal Kingdom Lodge, dropped of the kids at Simba's Clubhouse and had a date night at Sanna.)

Wear your walking shoes!

Flag review

Most people don't think of Princesses when they think of Epcot, but my daughter had the most princess experiences at this park! We booked with AAA and got a free princess Storytime at Epcot. Only about 10 kids were there and got to hear Jasmine read a book, talk to them, sign autographs and pose for pictures. We also had dining reservations at Akershus and got to meet all the major princesses (Belle, Aurora, Snow, Ariel, Cinderella.) Lots of fun rides for us older kids and hands down the best fireworks show ever!

Tips for Families

Bring a stroller, even for older toddlers.

Fun day!

Flag review

Get terrified at the tower of terror, enchanted by the live (indoor & air conditioned) performance of the journey of the little mermaid and try to get the highest score at Toy Story Midway Mania. Add to that, Star Tours, Rocking Roller Coaster and the best laser light / electric boat / fireworks show on Disney property and this is a park not to overlook. It is smaller in acerage than some of the others, making it very easy to navigate. We got more done here than at most other Disney parks (spending 1 day at each.)

Tips for Families

If you arrive early in the morning, you can get the kids signed up for Star Wars Jedi Training Academy. Also, the preferred seating at Fantasmic is absolutely worth it! Get it booking the dining package for Fantasmic preferred seating.

The Holy Grail of theme parks

Flag review

We only spent 1 day, so we didn't get to do everything. The park is huge, so even older toddlers will need a stroller. It also is a great way to keep inexpensive items (extra set of clothes, sunblock, water bottle) together while you are on rides. We toured Fantasyland after the fireworks with no lines. Lots of great guidebooks and websites for planning. My favorites were Passporters and Unofficial Guide with Kids. The youngest was terrified of the drop in Sash Mountain. I can't imagine starting a Disney vacation anywhere else!

Tips for Families

Breakfast at Crystal Palace includes characters from Winnie the Pooh and is less expensive than Cinderella's Royal Table. We got reservations for before Magic Kingdom opened.

LOVE!

Flag review

I can't say enough good about this place! My husband wants to go back and spend our whole vacation here skipping the theme parks altogether. The 2 bedroom condos give you a private bedroom, 2 bathrooms, a screened porch, full kitchen, etc. We were near the smaller pool and they are good at kicking everyone out when the pool is scheduled to close, so no trouble with late night noise. We used the grill on Labor Day. Loved the waterslides and lazy river. I had read the reviews and was expecting an uncomfortable bed but we were comfortable. I was also prepared for a small washer and dryer and limited supplies. Wal mart is within spitting distance, so it is easy to replenish if you need more laundry detergent. So is an inexpensive pizza place (CiCis I think the name was) we did have a leak on the last night and the front desk sent someone right away to fix it.

Tips for Families

Rent a car, we spoke to someone who was using their scheduled shuttle service and they said it was not convenient. No parking fees and your spot is directly in front of the condo so it is easy to load and unload the car.

Disney prices and experience

Flag review

We stayed in the Little Mermaid value rooms. The rooms are small hotel rooms, my hubby whacked his elbow on the bathroom door the first night. But, there are many nice touches that make this a fantastic hotel for a short stay. For example, there is a retractable clothesline across the top of the tub to dry your swimsuits. Also, great service. I asked for extra towels at the front desk and they were delivered before I walked back to my room. The shuttles are the best way to get around. We stayed 4 nights, then 6 nights off site while we enjoyed Orlando's other attractions. Book with AAA for the same price, but some added perks, like storytime with a princess.

Tips for Families

Use the dining plan and eat as many "counter service" credits as possible at Landscape of Flavors (at the resort.)
