Great Zoo but bring your walking shoes.

Flag review

This has been a long tradition of our family to visit the Milwaukee Zoo. Very nice spread out zoo. So you don't feel like all the animals are pilled on top of each other. Thing to note upon entering is the entrance and parking are paid at your car as you pull in. So be prepared when stopped at the "toll booth". Tip, they do accept partner memberships from various zoos across the country, so if your a member of your local zoo, it's likely that admission is covered with that same membership. Upon entering stear to the right for the Ape exhibit. A very nice spacous attraction. And make sure you make your way outside to see the monkey and ape out back a very natural and spaceous exhibit. One done there you might have to back track to catch a couple exhibits the exit take you past. But further up is the Reptile exhibit and aquatic exhibits. Also two our our favorites. Beyond that the zoo opens up to a walk past the woods and to the more tradional exhibits of bears, Elk, and such. The Lion exhibit is a nice touch as well. For kids the zoo offers several cool things. First the train around the zoo is a must do. But so is the skyway ride. (though not always open) On the far side check out the Camel rides and petting zoo. Not often kids get a chance to ride a Camel. Of course the carousel is a must do as well All of which as extra costs, to be prepared for additional costs for the day. By the end of the day, you'll be surprised how big the zoo feels and how much more space they have to expand for more.

Tips for Families

If your a member of your local zoo, you might be able to get in free with the Partnership program. Many memberships to zoos gives you access to dozens of Zoo's across the country, includin Milwaukee Zoo. Check before leaving, could save you a bundle.

Fun Afternoon

Flag review

We visited the Legoland discover Center. To be honest I expected more. First thing is prices were a bit high to get in for a kid focused place. But once in, the first thing you see if a cityscape of Chicago. which for me was the highlight. Very detailed and impressive. After that you pass a number of other Lego sculptures of various things. Which are cool but don't hold the kids attention long. After you make your way through you get to the "ride". Long line that day. We passed for now but came back later. WOW!, the most boring ride ever. I must go like 1MPH, and little to nothing to see. Even the kids were bored. Upstairs is where the "action" There kids can play and build legos and race them down a slope. In the corner is another ride, this one more kid friendly they liked better But still just a carnival ride indoors. Otherside of the buildiing has a movie theater showing one of two lego movies. So you can do twice to see both. And a demonstration on how to they make legos. But that's about it. You can see and do everything in a just a couple hours easy.

Tips for Families

Don't know if they always have this but at near by Rainforest Cafe, the kids place matts have coupons that get kids in free to Lego Discover with adult purchase. Gets you lunch at a fun place for the kids and saves buying a ticket.
