Family Friendly HQ in Austin TX

Flag review

The Omni Hotel in Austin is a perfect place to park your family for a visit to this town. It's easy to walk to many city attractions right from the hotel. The staff are extremely attentive to families and rooms and suites are well laid out for even larger families like ours. We enjoyed a full sized living room in our suite and a great view of the city. Additionally the hotel provided kidsclub amenities to our kids that were handy during day trips. There was a starbucks in the lobby, which was critical for us too! The glass elevator in the lobby is like a theme park ride every time you leave your room.

Tips for Families

If you find yourself here late at night, after room service has stopped delivering - call Jimmy Johns. We had great sandwiches delivered to our door at 2 am, within five minutes of placing the order! It was a great thing, having arrived so late with some very hungry little travelers.

Perfect Mother/Daughter Getaway

Flag review

Life is so fast paced, kids grow up too fast. We decided to stay at the Ritz for a mother daughter weekend. I traveled to the hotel with my 12 and 15 year old daughters and planned a relaxing time together - no schedule, no agenda, just together time. We enjoyed a fantastic dinner, followed by sunset and strawberries on our balcony. We ordered a movie and room service snacks and painted our nails. We slept in the next morning, grabbed coffee and snacks in the cafe and took a long walk on the beach, followed by a fine flop in lounge chairs poolside. All of us turned off our phones for the bulk of the trip and really enjoyed each other's company. Yes it was a splurge but it was a worthwhile one. For a change I did not have to be the harried mom, rushing here and there, and they did not have to hurry up, clean up, catch up or really do anything other than relax. We all did a fine job of that and the Ritz made it perfect!

Tips for Families

Use the beach valet to ferry all of your stuff to the beach. Grab a seat on the patio before sunset and watch the show! You can often see dolphins and whales from the hotel. Bring binoculars!

San Diego Zoo Safari Park/Roar and Snore

Flag review

The San Diego Zoo Safari Park is one of our favorite places to visit as a family. We loved seeing the animals, and it's a lovely place to spend a day.

Tips for Families

Spring for one of the add ons. The Ropes course is big fun and the Roar and Snore is a family adventure you'll never forget!

Fun on a Crowded Day at Disneyland

Flag review

Disneyland is always fun for us but can be challenging on a crowded day. We learned that we can still have fun even on packed days if we manage our expectations and plan accordingly

Tips for Families

Get a good ride app and don't expect to hit every ride if you are at the park during peak traffic. Plan rides early or late in the day. During the most crowded hours try doing your shopping, picking out a pair of Mickey Ears, making souvenir pennies and visiting less crowded attractions including Tom Sawyers Island, The Tiki Room, Innovations, and Tarzan's Tree house

Family Friendly Trip That's Fun for all Ages

Flag review

Paso Robles offered our kids a wholesome, outdoorsy adventure that was full of flavor. We enjoyed tastings, farm visits, hay rides and a charming local festival. The town is a pleasure to wander and the food is fabulous.

Tips for Families

Visit a farm and tour a winery. If your kids would like to experience a "tasting", make sure to stop by the Pithy Little Wine Company in town. They have fantastic wine and also hand crafted sodas, so the kids can do their own tasting while you are there. Schedule in plenty of time to tour the town, there are so many great shops and boutiques. There's always something fun going on in the town square from food events to Pioneer Days parades so check local schedules to pick the date that has activities you'll enjoy, before you book your trip.

Suggestions for nearby family-friendly restaurants

Thomas Hill Organics is really an adult establishment but their family style and all around excellent food makes it a fine choice with kids as well.
