A Day in Paradise!

Flag review

This was probably the 4th time we've stayed at the Paradise Pier hotel, part of the Disneyland Resort. We stayed after spring break and before summer, so the price was a bit lower (though still much higher than surrounding hotels in the area). I love the convenience of staying close to the parks and Downtown Disney. We also love the rooftop swimming pool and water slide. Disney Resort Hotels are always clean and staff is friendly and helpful.

Tips for Families

Sit in the pool area at night to watch the fireworks and avoid the park crowds. The music is even piped in over the loud speakers.

You belong in the Zoo!

Flag review

Something for everyone at the beautiful San Diego Zoo! One of my favorite places is the bug house in the Children's Zoo area. My eldest son loves the snake house with the poisonous species. My daughter likes watching the pandas (they were eating bamboo on our visit) and the toddler loves the elephants. Many of the enclosures have high walls or large bushes in front to protect the animals but it does make it hard for little ones to see the animals from their strollers. I would recommend taking the bus during your trip for an overview of the entire park. Then you can revisit on foot the places you'd like to see again. You can pack in your own food and bottled drinks for a picnic inside the park.

Tips for Families

A stroller is a must as there are lots of hills and it's a very large zoo. Bring your own hat, sunscreen and comfortable shoes.

A country retreat

Flag review

We live about an hour away from Julian and often drive there for the day to walk in the quaint town, get a delicious apple pie, shop and eat lunch at a bbq. Sometimes there is snow...but not that day. It was just cold for us native Californians!

Tips for Families

Stop in the corner market for fresh made juice and bagged treats. It's the kids' favorite place!
