Easter Dinner

Flag review

We decided we wanted a little escape over Easter weekend and what better than to step back into time and wander around Amish Acres and have such a hearty dinner at the restaurant on the grounds. The staff was very pleasant and the food was amazing as usual, we keep coming back for more yearly. and we always learn something new about out Amish and Mennonite neighbors. Such as great experience and it always hep the kids to be grateful for what we do have. a wonderful time!

Tips for Families

On holiday weekends make reservations for dnner.

Fun to watch and even touch!

Flag review

I took my daughters aged 9 and 11 on the train into Chicago for a fun day at the Aquarium. The huge tanks were a huge hit but even better was the sting ray tank where they could reach in and actually feel them! The huge array of animals is a huge plus from the sea turtles, to clown fish just like Nemo to the Dolphins. What a great day. The girls really like the 4-D movie of Sponge bob, yes you may get sprayed with a little water, but it makes for even more fun!

Tips for Families

Go early and plan on spending the better part of the day to sea everything, take your time and enjoy all you can, and actually go on the tour so worth it!

Family friendly honest fun

Flag review

My daughter and I stayed at the Amish Acres Farm and resort having so much fun!!!! We were transported back in time to a time of simpler living. The accommodations were quaint and lovely quilts were laid out on the beds and private baths, but the food was wonderful, full amish breakfast and a Trasher dinner served family style was wonderful, meatloaf, chicken mashed potatoes and homemade bread and desserts were wonderful. The tour of the farm was fun too! we got to see how cheese was made and churn butter, hay rides around the 130 Acre property was a highlight as well. In the evening we got to attend a wonderful musical in the Round Barn Theater of Nunsense all included in our package. This was a great way to reconnect from my daughter and disconnect from the outside hustle and bussel of everyday life

Tips for Families

Leave the cellphone in the car! take time to reconnect and amerce yourself in the farm, if you go on a Wednesday there is a great Amish Market only blocks from the farm, quilts, furniture and good buys can be found. Check online for deals, we got a one night stay with meals and tour of farm and theater for $99, great Buy!

So much fun

Flag review

Our room was so nice, we were in Alligator Bayou, some may go for the mansion side of this resort, but we liked the laid back side. Our Quiet pool was only a few steps away from our room and was open around the clock, which was great after coming home from the parks or in the afternoon. The beds were comfy and the room was spacious even with five people. We really liked the double sinks when getting ready in the morning. This is a large resort, but we opted for the preferred section which meant we were closer to the main building for dining and closer to the bus stop for transportation to and from the parks. This is a moderate resort in Disney terms. The themeing was very good and we enjoyed the pool games offered at the main pool daily. The arcade was fun but a little expensive. The girls got their hair wrapped by the main building and the even took the boats to downtown Disney one evening.

Tips for Families

In the evening in the lounge there is a family fun show, free for guests featuring Bob, he was entertaining for the whole family and made for a great night of laughter and fun, most likely the best day of the trip! Also Pin trading is everywhere here on property and the kids really enjoined trading with friendly cast members. They even have horse drawn carriages and surrey bikes for added fun.

Beautiful grounds and family fun

Flag review

The grounds were so lush plant life was wonderful. We saw many animals during our stay just around the grounds. One morning on my morning walk I even got to witness Otters at play in a small pond. The rooms were nice and comfy and the dining was good.

Tips for Families

If eating counter service get there early as it does get crowded. and buses are sometimes hit or miss in the afternoon for return from the Disney parks. We liked the big pool, but the smaller "quiet" pools were just as fun with a shorter walk.

Great Small Park

Flag review

This park has everything a larger park, but with out the lines and the crowds. They have larger roller coasters, even the ones where your legs hang down and old wooden coasters that span the length of the park for the big kid set, but they have nice smaller coasters for the younger kids. They also have a nice section of kid rides for little one. Michigan adventure also has a nice size water park complete with wave pool, kid play area and exciting water slide fun even ones the whole family can go down together. This is a nice park that is not too busy. We never waited in line over 15 minutes for any ride :)

Tips for Families

Because of the size of the park, getting back to your car is not an issue, if you decide to pack a picnic lunch. This is always a plus, they have nice picnic areas as well. This park is very kid friendly and great if going with older kids to actually let them go with friends for the day. We took two older teenagers (17) with us and ran into them at least 6 times during the day just walking around.

Older kids loved

Flag review

The exhibits are kid friendly, when we went the was a special on Pirates, the history and some cute exhibits. The huge wholly mammoth, and large t rex were a big hit. My girls loved the look at animals throughout history. My only issue is the only real place to eat a quick lunch in the museum is a way over priced McDonald's $7.00 for a soggy happy meal? they have many floors and so much to see, close to transportation, only 4 blocks from the southshore line.

Tips for Families

either bring a picnic or walk to a near by diner as the food at the mcdonald's inside is overpriced and when we did get our $7.00 happy meal it had soggy fries and nuggets.

FUN Show and good food

Flag review

We really enjoyed this dinner theater, they involve the audience into the show while cheering for your knight, my girls got a real kick out of this show. My little one still has yellow and black crown from this show. They loved the jousting and the food was good, and hot which I was surprised. The kids got a kick out of not using silverware and being able to eat with their hands and my husband loved the chicken. The dessert was yummy too, if you are still hungry they give you a second portion, and make sure you are full when leaving. Great show all in all and plan to return when return to Kissimmee in May!

Tips for Families

Call ahead for reservations during busy periods, we loved the first show, they have two an evening and the first show we were back to the motel at a decent hour

food was not good, and show lacked luster

Flag review

Dinner show with horses stunts and fun show for the little ones but not as good as some other offerings in town for the money. The food was standard fair if not poor, the soup which was drank rather than eaten with a spoon was lukewarm, the chicken was unseasoned and dry and dessert was dreadful sort of apple(I think) dumpling. My little one liked the show because she is into horses but besides that it was rather disappointing. There seemed to be no real point to the show.

Tips for Families

get there early, and watch out for over priced photos and key chains offered with your family and a cut out horse

Fun for adults and big kids

Flag review

Entering the dinner theater was a little weird in a strip Mall but all was forgiven when you enter inside! you are transported into a fun room of mystery! We were at a dinner party being served by the "staff" The food of Cornish game hens and potatoes and green beans were yummy and nicely prepared. The dinner theater went over the head of my little one but my bigger child really enjoyed it was well as us adults, The comedy was dry but good, loved the dessert. of cheesecake. It is lower priced than others, but it is because of space and experience inside, I think it is something that is fun to do once, we would not go back but try another one next time.

Tips for Families

leave the little ones home
