A trip to Sea World In Orlando Florida

Flag review

A visit to SeaWorld Orlando! A visit to SeaWorld Orlando! Seaworld Orlando has something to offer all members of your family, regardless of age. My kids are age 9 and 12. The 9-year old is really into animals and the 12-year old is more into rides and thrills. Both boys (and parents) had a great time! Parking is well organized at Seaworld. Staff are on hand to make sure that the parking goes smoothly. After lathering up with sunblock at the car, we began the 5-minute walk to the park entrance. The first attraction we checked out was the aquarium. The aquarium is world-class and showcases a wide variety of marine life. From sharks and rays to inverts such as jellyfish and anemones, you are sure to find a favorite at this exhibit. It is a great walk-through exhibit and you can tell that the animals are well cared for. We especially liked the various types of sea horses and large 'community' exhibits. Definitely take the time to check out the aquarium. Near the aquarium is the Manta roller coaster. This is a suspended roller coaster where you lie flat on your belly. Not for the faint of heart and be sure to put your belongings in a nearby locker as you will lose any loose items in your possession. Make sure your thrill seekers make a beeline for this popular ride. Don't forget to check out the skill games for a chance to win great prizes! Turtle Trek is a great exhibit dedicated to the conservation of sea turtles. Be sure to check out the manatees and other abundant sea life as you enter the exhibit. There are staff on hand to answer questions and provide background on the exhibit. This is a guided walk-though exhibit with many different marine animals. Visitors are led through the exhibit which ends in the grand finale - an awesome 3D dome theater experience where you have the vantage point of a hatchling sea turtle barely escaping the clutches of a hungry crab. You follow the young turtle on a great 3D adventure through the high seas! Definitely a must-see! We checked out two shows while at Seaworld. First, we visited the dolphin show. It is absolutely amazing at what the dolphins can be trained to do. There are plenty of opportunities for some great photos here. Complete with trained tropical birds flying over the audience, high-diving humans, and aerial acrobats, the dolphin show is sure to thrill the entire family. We also caught the Shamu (killer whale) show. What really caught my attention is the intelligence of these huge creatures. I gained a great appreciation for how intelligent the orcas are. You can also tell that the staff have a genuine interest in the well-being of the whales. We did not sit in the 'splash zone' at this show, but those that did got very wet! At several times during the show, whales would swim around the edge of the tank splashing the visitors. We stayed dry because we sat high in Shamu Stadium but next time, we will try the splash zone! My 9-year old animal lover especially liked the opportunity to pet sting rays. Don't worry, the stingers have been removed and you can lean over a short wall and touch the rays as they swim by. Seaworld also has sting ray food for purchase that allow you to hand-feed the rays. Staff are on hand to make sure that visitors use the proper techniques to touch and feed these interesting creatures. SeaWorld Orlando is a great way to spend a day or two in Central Florida. There are plenty of rides to keep your thrill-seeker happy and your animal lover will be fascinated with the abundant exhibits throughout the park. SeaWorld has done a great job of providing an excellent environment that both thrills and teaches.

Tips for Families

Lots of photo ops If you sit in the splash zone be warned you will get soaked!!! Have lots of fun and make lots of memories

Kings Island birthday

Flag review

We had such a great time, even though I lost my sunglasses on the Racer. We all love Kings Island . We had a great time on Whitewater Canyon (no pics because my camera was in the locker - you get wet!!!) If you ever get a chance to visit Kings Island you definitely need to go. It is great fun. A wonderful way to spend time with the family. So many things to do, we didn't want to leave, had a blast although I don't think my son is really into the big thrill rides yet or maybe his friend didn't want to ride any, either way I'm sure we will be back soon.

Tips for Families

Lots of photo ops bring lots of cash as there are lots of things to buy. If you ride water rides make sure to leave camera in locker or in a zip lock bag as you will get wet!!!! Most of all have fun..and make memories

Legoland Birthday

Flag review

We had such a fun time at Legoland! There is so much to do and see. It's amazing what they can do with Legos! My youngest had a great 9th birthday. This is a great park for kids of all ages - I think that the 6-12 set will throughly enjoy it. The rides are fun and are very kid-friendly (See my photos below). You should definitely consider taking your Lego fan to the great park. It is easily accessible from Orlando and Tampa. There is ample parking close to the park. Upon our arrival, my boys immediately wanted to ride The Dragon roller coaster. It is a great coaster for kids - just enough thrill factor (but not too much - also, did I mention it has a DRAGON theme?). My boys loved it! They immediately hopped on the Merlin ride which is a very nice 'medium-thrill' around-and-around ride. We had a great time at the Imagination Zone - since it was very hot that day, this indoor (air conditioned) attraction was much appreciated. I tried to stretch out that stop as long as possible :). My 9-year old made a race car from Legos. Legoland has several types of race tracks where you can test out your creation. The Legoland miniature area is absolutely amazing and is a must-see! This is an area modeled after many areas around the globe with some specialty Lego builds as well. If you want to see what is possible to build using Legos, then do yourself a favor and spend an hour in the miniature area. Our favorite ride as a family was Flying School. This is a suspended roller coaster that takes you through several exciting twists and turns. My 9-year old thought this was a great ride! This one was definitely a hit for the entire family! Another exciting roller coaster at Legoland is Coastersaurus. Unfortunately, the line was a little long when we were in this area (it's very popular), but upon our return to Legoland, we will be making a beeline to Coastersaurus! Another hit with my family was Lost Kingdom Adventure. In this ride, you fire lasers at various bad guys and targets throughout the ride. My boys had a great time firing their lasers and racking up the points. The interactive ride is very well done and highly recommended. The Safari Trek is a great little ride showcasing what the Lego Masters can build in the animal kingdom. Absolutely amazing! Be sure to check this ride out with your Lego / animal lover! If you have younger kids, they will have a great time as well. With areas such as the Duplo Village catering to the younger set, Legoland has done a great job of focusing on all age groups of kids. We found the staff at Legoland to be very helpful and extremely friendly. Whether in the ticket line, Imagination Zone, or somewhere else in the park, the staff were always courteous, patient, and professional. In addition, many of the staff carry around Lego mini-figures that the kids can swap (similar to Disney pin trading). At the end of the day, we had a great time at Legoland Florida. We didn't get to ride everything, but we will definitely return to check out our favorites and try some new things. When in Central Florida, be sure to put Legoland Florida on your list and be prepared to have a ton of fun and just be amazed at what can be done with these extremely popular little plastic blocks!!

Tips for Families

Lots and lots of photo ops make sure to bring sunblock Get there early as the rides fill up fast

Great time for the kids

Flag review

My family especially enjoyed the water slides. You get a 1-person or 2-person inner tube and climb up several stories of stairs to the top of the slides. You then pick your slide - Black Out Pass was our favorite - in this one, you speed down the dark slide into a huge bowl where you spin around in the bowl until you get to the bottom - then you shoot down yet another slide into the pool. My husband and I rode this slide with my sons several times. Ambush Alley and Raging Bull are similar slides that will allow racing. We had several races and it seemed that my kids always won for some reason! The Shootout Racer is another great slide that you ride head-first into on mats. It is a great slide for racing competitions (up to 4 people at a time). For more information and to see what these slides look like, see this link: http://www.fortrapids.com/public/waterpark/attractions/ We also enjoyed the Activity Pool and played several games of family basketball there. This area also has a more traditional pool area if that is more your speed. There is also a rope challenge that my 9-year old couldn’t get enough of. The resort has 227 rooms and 60 suites. There is dining on the premises with all sorts of convenient dining options off-premises if you desire. At the end of the day, Fort Rapids Water Resort is a great way for the family to spend a fun-filled day or two or three. I highly recommend Fort Rapids for great family fun in the Columbus, Ohio area!
