Great science center for growing kids

Flag review

The St. Louis Science Center is a great facility and a good "step-up" location as your kids start to outgrow the children's museums. The planetarium is cool and features a choice of either chairs or mats that you can pull out and make yourself comfy on the floor to watch the star shows. There are a variety of visiting exhibits as well. Our daughter is interested in Egypt, so we visited the special Egypt exhibit with.

Tips for Families

The Science Center bills itself as free admission and many exhibits are free. Planetarium shows, Omnimax movies, and special exhibits all have a fee, however. Check the travel magazine in your hotel--we found a 2-4-1 coupon for the planetarium show--there are also signs posted where you can text the science center for additional coupons.

Awesome Zoo with fabulous exhibits

Flag review

We visited the Memphis Zoo while in town for a wedding. This is just a fabulous zoo. Great exhibits and highly walkable. I think the big cat exhibit is especially good, and they have giant pandas too. We plan to return when driving through on our way to Orange Beach this summer.

Tips for Families

This is a great activity if you're going through Memphis on the way to another destination or just in town for fun. My daughter loved it.

Beautiful and relaxing

Flag review

The Butterfly Palace in Branson, MO is a lovely way to spend an hour or two. The butterfly conservatory is full of exotic butterflies who often land on guests. There are ample benches, binoculars, and magnifying glasses available to check out the various butterflies. The kids in tow also liked the small rainforest exhibit and spent quite a bit of time in the mirror maze.

Tips for Families

If you go, buy your tickets online for quicker entry and to save a couple bucks.

Always a great place to visit!

Flag review

When we visit family in Indianapolis, our daughter always asks to go to the Children's Museum there. It is one of the best facilities for a wide age range that I've visited. Between the Dinosphere and the new Treasures of the Earth exhibit this is a great experience for school-age children. There are plenty of interactive exhibits for the whole family to enjoy.

Tips for Families

Indianapolis is a great weekend destination. They have a great zoo and their downtown area is very walkable to many attractions.

Great weekend getaway

Flag review

The Lodges at Timber Ridge are a great option in Branson. They are located at the Welk Resort. The Lodges units are beautiful with a full kitchen in the unit we stayed in. My daughter (age 10) and her friend loved the Splash-a-Torium, which would be great in the summer as well, with its indoor/outdoor design. Poolside service is reasonable for this type of service. We also went to the Butterfly Palace and the Amazing Pets show. Both were big hits with the girls.

Tips for Families

The Lodges are a great option if you want a bit more space--there's a huge bedroom and a sleepr sofa for the kids.

Keystone is a great summer destination

Flag review

Keystone, CO is a great summer destination--we stayed at the Black Bear Lodge right at River Run Village--this is a great location! In River Run there are lots of activities for tweens, including bungee trampolines, gem mining, mini golf and more. If you're sick of of the midwestern heat (we're from Kansas), Keystone is a great break from the summer heat.

Tips for Families

Get the activity pack if your kids want to do things more than once--our pack was unlimited on a certain number of activities...our daughter and her friend did the gem mining 3 or 4 times.
