All the DISNEY Perks … Little known secret

This is a favorite destination of ours. What does it have? LOCATION, LOCATION LOCATION! We have been staying at the Swan (and Dolphin) for the past 10 years…sometimes just our immediate family, sometimes extended family (our last stay was in a 2 bedroom grand suite w/ an additional room for a party of 11) sometimes just me and the kids, sometimes even just me and some girl friends for a getaway. Although it is not a Disney owned hotel it is on Disney property (it’s an interesting story actually). As a guest you have access to WDW operated buses and boats. The other perk is that you also get the “extra magic hours” at all the WDW parks. You can not participate in the WDW dining plan or utilize the “magical express” to and from the airport. We are also SPG STARWOOD members … I suggest signing up (it’s a great and more than fair rewards programs). As members we probably got at least 10 nights free over the years along w/ other rewards and great rates (which can be used at any starwood hotel around the world). We have any many, many wonderful stays at the Swan and I highly recommend it. We have also stayed at The Grand Floridian, The Contemporary and the Beach and Yacht Club. We loved all of those WDW owned and operated hotels but we always still come back to the Swan/Dolphin!!! BTW – the beds are truly HEAVENLY! They are my favorite beds of any hotel I have every stayed at! The restaurants are fabulous! We have prob. eaten at all of them over the years…. a little pricey (but that’s Disney). They now offer their own version of a Dining plan (something to check out).

    Tips for Families

I suggest families stay at the Swan because they offer queen sized beds (as well as King). Where as the Dolphin the choice is 2 double beds or a King. Both are considered “convention/business” hotels but I think the Swan is a little better suited for families. I have stayed in both hotels but when I am staying with the family or a larger group, I always opt for the Swan. You are able to use the facilities in both hotels (and there are restaurants in both). However, the only place to grab a quick bite (and hot food/some light groceries/snacks etc.) is in the Dolphin. I believe the only bar is in the Dolphin too-Something to consider if those things are important to you. Although its a quick walk between the hotels.

Deluxe Disney Accomodations for a Moderate Price

We love the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort. The rooms are large, the beds are soft and comfortable (they’re not kidding when they say “Heavenly”), and you’re within walking distance of two Walt Disney World theme parks (Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios). Best of all, because these are not official Disney Resort hotels you can find great deals. You are definitely getting “Deluxe” accommodations for the price of a “Moderate” (or less).

    Tips for Families

The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort has many discounts available for teachers, government employees, military and nurses. Be sure to ask if the discounts apply. We like the Swan a little more than the Dolphin because it’s a little smaller and easier to get around. However, both hotels are fabulous for families at Disney.
