A place I'd go again and againFlag review
This is a great place to stay for families. The main pool has a water slide, a jacuzzi under a rock bridge that the kids enjoy, and adjacent to it is a kiddie pool in about a foot of water for the little ones. Our kids vary in age and we were able to stay at the main pool area all day, all week since it catered to all the ages. The big plus is to just invest in renting a gazebo. It made life so much easier with the kids and you can order food for them to bring to the gazebo! The resort is right on the beach so when the kids get sick of the pool, it's a quick walk to the ocean for some snorkeling. The snorkeling was so much fun. The resort has gear that you can rent. We saw eels and turtles...it was AMAZING!
Tips for Families
1. Rent a gazebo. 2. Rent snorkeling gear. 3. Stop by the store and pick up groceries before heading to the resort. They have a small kitchen stocked with all the utensils and pans you need to cook breakfast and the occasional lunch. 4. Take advantage of the kids club.

modern hotel with very nice rooms. Washer/dryer and supplies too, which were very handy. Moderately pricey restaurant which is no surprise. Great pools with waterslides...
Don't expect view rooms even with Elite Level Starwood Ownership
Beautiful grounds and friendly staff. BUT, we were hoping for a room with a view, to celebrate a 50th birthday, and since we booked 6 months ahead and are Elite Level owners, that seemed reasonable. I guess not. We were placed in a 2nd floor room with a 4' high stucco wall around the deck, so we can't see out of our room unless we stand at the ...
Nice hotel, EXCELLENT location
Just spent 5 nights at The Westin in Kaanapali. We normally stay at the Grand Wailea but were looking for a bit of a change for this trip. We used Amex points to pay for most of the room charges so by doing this the room rates were very very reasonable. The hotel is a nice resort with probably the best beach of all the resorts on Kaanapali beach. The resort is literally right next door to Whalers Village which is a nice place to walk around to look at the shops. It also give s you bit more of a restaurant choice without having to get in the car. There are all the beach services you could ask for here.... right off the Westin beach you can get on large catamarans for snorkeling or sunset cruises, banana boat ...
Great suite but some poor service
We arrived to find check in time at this property was 4 pm. This is really on the late side and when you travel Melbourne Sydney Honolulu Maui it's not great to have to wait 5 hours to check in! Unfortunately I was unwell with a fever so I spent the day sitting in the lobby area . What I observed all day was others arriving and every single family group being told their room wouldn't be ready til 4 . How can it be that no rooms were ready earlier? 4 pm came and there was a queue of approx 20 family groups with two receptionists on duty . I have never in all my traveling seen anything like this . Reception service is very very slow. Not the fabulous service I have seen in my previous travels to USA . Our follo...
