Nothing special without the nannies
Hard resort to rate as the resort itself is average to mediocre. But if you have children and need a break, the nannies are a god-send. I strongly recommend Tamara but all are well-trained and reliable. They also have a lot of activities for the kids. Mind you you might have to lower some of your standards (e.g. paints are not washable, glue is the type you buy in hardware store). The food was good and special requests were honored. The big cons at this hotel is the lack of beach. The kiddie beach is tiny and crowded - full of rocks and shallow - not good for swimming. The beach at Beaches is nice but you have to go to the other resort and there are no chairs or drinks for FDR costumers. The other con are th...
Great family resort and well equipped for food allergies!
Our first trip to FDR, but certainly not our last! Our daughter has a severe peanut and tree nut allergy and this was our first experience traveling since the diagnosis. Everyone on the staff was aware of her needs from day one; the chefs even prepared some of the boxes of mac n cheese and ravioli we brought with us. Our nanny, Charlene, was amazing -- not only did she take great care of our 3 year old (and the craft activities are better than the ones she has at daycare at home). she made sure we had everything we needed and if we had any questions or issues, she instantly took care of it. From our wonderful welcome from Kimberly, to Marsha, Donnalee, Kerrian, Ryan and Andre in the restaurants, to Shevoy an...
Another perfect vacation!
What can I say? Second time there, another perfect trip! I'm not sure I can add anything that I haven't said before lol..the staff were great, weather was perfect, food delicious! I found it harder to leave this year than before. There are a couple staff that we got attached to & miss them dearly! It really is a perfect place to take the kids. Staff members keep the kids involved with activities, have dinner with them, play games after dinner. Personally know your kids, and greet you everytime they see you. You really do make friends with everyone there. Everyone goes out of their way to make your trip wonderful. The nannies are a must have! We asked for Janice again. At this point she feels like family! It'...
4th year back - better than ever!
The previous reviews say it all - The FDR is truly a resort where you can take the children along and actually have a vacation, not just a trip with the family. We have gone 4 years in a row, with my children now being 3 & 7. We also travel with my mother (75) and my brother's family (kids ages 9, 14, 17.) The nannies are wonderful - we had Carlene and Tamieka (who was helping my brother's family). Everytime I would talk to Carlene about something that would need to be done soon, she had read my mind and already taken care of it. Examples - sending the laundry to be done ($10 a load - nice to come home with clean clothes), naps for my 3 year old, projects for the 7 year old, snacks for the kids late night in...
