Beautiful Resort, Great StaffFlag review
We checked and had a Bayview room booked. They had a balcony available, so we got it. So impressed by this newly renovated room. Simply gorgeous and a huge balcony overlooking the bay and resort. When our bags were delivered our bellman gave us a brief orientation to the property. Our room was located on the 3rd floor near the boat launch. This worked out perfectly for getting to the parks. Staying on property, you get front of the line priority. This is a benefit that is worth it's weight. Service was great while on property, and the grounds transport you to another place. The only complaint was my husband's omelet was undercooked and sloppy at breakfast. But the waiter took it off the bill and added a discount. Again, well done!! Thanks for a great time.
Tips for Families
There are not many balconies on property. Be sure to ask if they have one available at check in. They will not confirm or reserve before check in.

My Kid's Review
Was this review helpful to you?Yes
We stayed here over July 4th, for my daughter's graduation trip. This hotel is excellent, the rooms are spacious, and if you are a loew's first member you get an upgrade. We had a room with a pull out sofa, which was twin sized, and we had planned on my youngest daughter sleeping on it because those are usually so uncomfortable, however, this one was so comfortable that my six foot tall older sister claimed it and loved it! When you stay at this resort you get a fast pass for all the rides at Islands of Adventure and Universal, plus an early admission to the world of Harry Potter! These amenities make the higher price tag for the room well worth it! There are many restaurants at the resort, all of them excel...
Italy - Florida style!
This was our third stay at The Portofino and there's a reason why we keep coming back. It's an excellent location for access to the Universal parks (which are the best for teenagers). It's trouble free, friendly, has a good selection of restaurants (although watch out for Mama's - don't think she's been there for a while - cheaper Pizzas a much better bet). Transport to the parks is a bonus and best of all the great fast pass system and early access to get on The Rocket (the teenager's favourite) and Harry Potter's various rides (everyone's favourites). Also, unlike a lot of US hotels you can get guaranteed family rooms for younger kids, or inter-connecting for older (although these have to be garden view - ...
Beautiful property..... Great food...
The only problem was the room. Nothing worked at check in. Even the mini bar was open and items were missing. Managem...
Best place to stay
We stayed in a garden room 1373 not the best view, but instead of paying for an upgrade we used the money to eat at all the hotel restaurants, which are all worth a visit. Did not have a car, you dont need one. Used hotel transport for everything we needed mostly free. The local malls cost $20. The beach pool was excellent free towels, water and sun cream. Drinks and food a bit expensive but good quality and large portions. WiFI is not free and over priced. Room service and room bar again expensive. house keeping was good if you put out a Service my room sign if you forgot then very slow, but not the end of the world. Every staff member was friendly and helped towards the overall atmosphere of Dolce vite. T...
