Convenient Condos Just Steps from the Beach
Tranquility Bay Beach House Resort in Marathon is perfect for family reunions. We rented four 2-bedroom condos with full kitchens over the Christmas holidays. The condos are conveniently located just steps away from the sandy beach. There are 2- and 3-bedroom condos, all with full kitchens, porches and daily maid service. I would definitely stay here again and it works very well as home base in the Keys although if you want to do a lot in Key West it’s better to spend a couple of nights there. The large pool is a haven for kids who play football and every game imaginable here. Large iguanas watch from overhead in the trees – these are fascinating for the kids (and adults) to see. There is also an adult pool. The grounds are spacious and there is a lot of room to run around on the grass or the beach. It’s not always common to have a good beach in the Keys so this is a plus. There is also water sports rental at the beach and a fabulous tiki bar that we enjoyed hanging out at especially at sunset with a view of a little lighthouse in the background. The ambiance at the tiki bar is pure Keys/Bahamas and it adds alot to the resort. The Butterfly restaurant is pricey but the food is good. They will also prepare your fresh catch and fill in with sides to make a complete dinner. We did this and the portions were hearty and turned out to be our favorite night of dining together as a family. The service could be better. The cleaning staff was a bit lackluster and would ask me if I wanted my condo cleaned that day with the impression that they would be happy not to clean it. Front desk was fine but again no feeling that they would go out of their way assist me. The reservation staff however was excellent and made sure all 4 of our condos were next to each other – I booked 7 months in advance for the holidays.
Tips for Families
+all bedrooms in condos are located upstairs +it’s easy to fish right off the dock area +there are a set of condos located on the North end of the property which I would not recommend with kids. They are located close to a sea wall with little area to run around in front. The other condos walk out to the beach or big grassy areas +Key West is 1 hour south +Marathon is where the 7-mile bridge starts so there are some fabulous views around here +Don’t miss Keys Fisheries for stone crabs and seafood. The manatees hang out here often and you can give they love a drink of fresh water – yes, just drip the water down to them from a cup and they drink it.
