Always a great stay at Disney’s Old Key West

Disney’s Old KLey West Resort has spacious rooms, a convenient location and great resort amenities. Old Key West has studios, one-bedroom and two bedroom units. Old Key West is part of the Disney Vacation Club timeshare system, but Disney also rents rooms for cash. The resort has a number of pools and spas, a sit-down restaurant, organized kid’s activities and free transportation to the disney theme parks, Downtown Disney and disney water parks. One and two bedroom units have a master suite with whirlpool tub, washer/dryer and a full kitchen. We have stayed at Old Key West five times in the last 8 years and have never been disappointed.

    Tips for Families

the resort is large, so check out a map of the resort and decide whether you want to be near the main pool/restaurant or in a more remote (and quieter) location.

    Welcome home!

I’m very biased as I’ve been coming to Old Key West with my family for most of my life. It really does feel like home to those of us who are members of the Disney Vacation Club. The rooms are clean, and with bus stops scattered around the resort, we don’t have to huff it too far to return to our room at the end of a long day in the theme parks. If you’re driving to Disney World, it’s nice to be able to park right in front of your room. There aren’t a whole lot of dining options available on-site, just Olivia’s and whatever is down by the waterfront.

    Tips for Families

Be sure to participate in poolside activities. We won poolside trivia and the prize was a lanyard with 8 pins! We also made tie-dye t-shirts. They were kind of expensive ($17 for adults), but it was fun to make a souvenir and it makes me really happy when I wear it at home and remember sitting by the pool. Some of the buildings don’t have elevators, so if you have a stroller be sure to ask! We had to stop and get ours out of the car on our way to the bus stop each day. It was a hassle.

    It was amazing

The resort was amazing. It was one of the most spacious Disney Resorts we have ever stayed in. We stayed in a studio and had plenty of room. The pool area was great and there were lenty of things to do at the resort. It is very close to Downtown Disney also.

    Tips for Families

Any of the spaces are great to stay in but if you have children who enjoy the pool area stay close to where you check in for the easiest travel to the pool area and shops.

Quick trip to disney for xmas vacation

This resort is awesome. Their smallest studio room is twice as big as a regular hotel room. They are bigger than any of the other studios that disney time share has to offer. The room is great if you have kids because everyone can have their own space. The resort had several pools and the mail pool area was fantastic. There is an arcade and also water sports you can do right from the resort.

    Tips for Families

If staying with small children I would ask to be placed as close to the main building as possible so that you do not have to walk very far to get to the pool and all the other activities. The resort is quite spread out.
