Tips for Families

For some reason bathrooms are extremely hard to come by here. There are elevators everywhere except the main entrance which made it impossible to enter without taking my son out of his stroller.

Great for fans of “Night at the Museum”

Flag review

Tips for Families

Take a lunch break outside and have a hot dog from one of the vendors. Fans of “Night at the Museum” will not want to miss the large heads from the Easter Island of “You give me gum-gum!” fame.

Great visit for toddlers!

Tips for Families

Ticket prices appear steep ($25.00 each) but they're just "suggested" prices. If you go to the ticket counter instead of the ticket machines, you can actually name your own price. We usually pay $5.00 per ticket.

Party under the whale!

Tips for Families

Although tickets appear pricey ($25 each), that's actually only a "suggested" price. If you go to the counter (not the machines), you can tell the ticket person exactly how much you want to pay per ticket. We usually do $5.00 each.

Discovery Room, Seasonal Celebrations and Dinosaur Chicken Nuggets, Special Events

Flag review

Tips for Families

While your kids may try to steer you toward the dinosaur nuggets, there are several kid-friendly restaurants with better food and value very close by. Isabellas (77th St), Shake Shack (77th St) and even UNOs Pizzaria (81st St) will likely make the entire family happier than eating in the Museum.

Visited this museum for approximately four hours, unfortunately that is not enough time to see everything I wanted to. Student ID drops price a little bit. I wanted to see one special attraction and they recommend the planetarium. I was so happy to see huge dinosaurs in such a long time! It is accessible via subway (drops you right into museum entrance!) or you can walk there. PLANETARIUM: it was about 15 minutes long. The structure is pretty; it's a 360 degree view, half hemisphere, good projectors and sound, voice-over by Whoopi Goldberg. I entered thinking I would get a hardcore intellectual/scientific lecture, but it was more oriented for the general public (and of course, the kids) and made a number of ...

Disappointed.  It's tough to shell out $60 for two adults and one child for a museum that you think doesn't do as well as the Smithsonian, which is free. Comparisons aside, the museu...
