It appears we're long overdue for another visit!Flag review
This is a small zoo with lesser-known animals, but definitely worth making a part of a visit to the area for locals, or out-of-towners staying for a week or more. Supporting local businesses being a common rallying cry, zoos need visitors to stay open. We have been many times through the years, and if my photo organizer hadn't proved to be incompatible with our current computer system, I might find more recent photos, but the enjoyment is visible regardless of the dates. In the same location on the other side of the parking lot is the Discovery Center, which is another place I hope to be reviewing soon- a family destination for sure! All of the hands on opportunities can make the difference between static observation and involved enjoyment.
Tips for Families
Don't expect giraffes and elephants, but coatimundis are worth getting to know, too! :D Strollers are definitely recommended for little ones- there are some steep spots and longish walks. Hand sanitizer is probably a good idea, making sure it's not being licked off by animals, however.
